The ending of the fourth book, Miss Melville Rides a Tiger, is a bit far-fetched, but that is the only time in all four books that the far-fetched isn't totally fetching. Start with the first in the series, Miss Melville Regrets: it's so well-plotted/5(15).   Miss Melville is the second book about the lady-like assassin. She only takes out those who deserve it, but the law can't touch. The books are written tongue-in-cheek, but Evelyn Smith makes telling points about today's world with humor. It's a pity she only wrote five, and the last out of print/5(8). Books Hello, Sign in. Account & Lists Account Returns & Orders. Try. Prime. Susan Melville, a spinster art teacher and painter, who becomes a freelance assassin, in New York City: Miss Melville Regrets (Miss Melville #1), Miss Me.

I bought three books by Ms. Smith at a local used book sale. When I went to read one, I found that I had books 2 through 4 of a series. I decided to buy the first book online to start at the beginning. This book was so funny and wonderful to read. Susan Melville, a middle-aged woman of a once prominent family, has come upon bad times/5(30). After reading "Miss Melville Regrets" I find book # 2 to be a bit of a letdown. I enjoyed Susan Melville. the artist, and her agent, Jill Turkel. Many of the characters from the first book are now missing. Alex, her former employer, now supposedly her brother, is married with a wife expecting twins/5(19). Aristocratic and philanthropic assassin Susan Melville sets out to terminate a former flame, Brad Robertson, a U.S. senator and presidential candidate who has become a ruthless international terrorist. Written in Only published in /5(2). Evelyn E. Smith has books on Goodreads with ratings. Evelyn E. Smith’s most popular book is Miss Melville Regrets (Miss Melville #1).

Owing to the decline of his contemporary fame and to decades of posthumous neglect, Herman Melville remains enigmatic to readers despite his status as one of America’s most securely canonical authors. Born into patrician wealth but plunged into poverty as a child, in he signed aboard the whaleship Acushnet in the midst of a nationwide depression and sailed to the South Pacific.
